Pre and Post Care

To Prepare For Your Lip Blush Appointment:

Valtrex MUST be taken prior to appointment, the day of and after the procedure. (3 pills x 3 times for 3 days).

Fever blisters are a common side affect of lip tattooing. If you have ever had fever blisters (even years ago), cold sores, shingles or chicken pox a prescribed anti-viral medication.

OR a supplement of Lysine, this is over the counter. Take a week prior to appointment.

To ensure the best retention of color, it is advisable to exfoliate the lips three days prior to procedure by using a soft toothbrush, a washcloth or lip sugar scrub. After exfoliating apply Vaseline / Aquaphor for moisture the following days. Moisture and hydration plays a big role in pigment retention.

POST-APPOINTMENT (PERMANENT COSMETICS)

*Note: Instructions and aftercare products will be provided the day of your visit

After care is crucial, it is very important to follow these instructions for the full 10 day healing period to ensure proper healing and color retention. Results will vary for all individuals and we can not guarantee your results.

Lip Blush Aftercare

Apply provided ointment 2-3 times a day on treated skin until completely healed.

Do not apply other creams, makeup or any other products on treated skin area for 7-10 days.

Do not rub, pick or scratch the treated area. (Allow any scabbed or dry skin to naturally exfoliate off. Picking at the skin can cause scarring.)

Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 10 days after your procedure.

Avoid physical activity which induces excessive sweating for 10 days after your procedure.

Avoid facials, botox, chemical treatments and microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

Try to avoid sleeping on your face for 10 days after your procedure.

*Note: your lips will appear darker and bolder due to natural scabbing, peeling and healing for the first 10 days. This is very common for all permanent cosmetic procedures. The pigment color will take up 3-4 weeks to clarify.

GENERAL INFORMATION

WHAT TO EXPECT

Permanent cosmetics do not always heal perfectly after the first session, it may take 2 or more sessions to reach your ideal result.

As with most tattoo procedures, there is some pain involved during a lip blush tattoo, especially because the lips are a sensitive area on the body.

That's why most technicians use numbing cream to make the pain more tolerable.

Numbing before and during the process just allows for a more comfortable experience. In terms of pain, most would rate lip blush between 2-4 on a scale of 1-10. The pain is very mild.

Tattoo machines designed to do cosmetic tattooing procedures like lip blush only work on the surface of the skin, making the procedure less painful than traditional tattooing methods.

Day 1: Lips will be swollen and sensitive. Color will appear bright. Lips will produce lymphatic fluid that needs to be wiped down with a sterile wipe.

Day 2: Swelling will subside and color will appear darker.

Days 3-4: Lips will become dry and start to flake (like a traditional tattoo). Keeping them moisturized is important.

Days 5-7: The skin flakes away and your new lip color is revealed and begins to settle in. Often healed lips appear about 40-50 percent lighter and more natural than what you see on days one and two.

THINGS TO AVOID

Overexposure to sun or tanning can be detrimental to your treated skin. Excessive UV exposure will alter the pigment of your tattoo.

Laser light therapy on your treated skin (this can darken, lighten, and distort the color pigment).

Direct water on your tattoo/skin (this is a crucial step to avoid washing out the color).

Use of cleansers, soaps or any other creams on your brow tattoo. Wash around the area using a cleaning cloth or makeup wipe.

Use of Vaseline, Neosporin, and petroleum based products on your tattooed area.

Applying makeup on your lips for 2 weeks after your treatment.

Use of exfoliants, retinol acids, or AHA's on the treated area for 30 days after the appointment, these products will fade your tattoo prematurely.

Excessive exercise and sweating for the first 10 days after your treatment (sweating may infect, discolour, or prematurely fade your brow tattoo).

Visiting saunas, pools, and steam rooms.

Massages, facials, or skin treatments during the healing process.
